I’ve been feeling better after a couple months back in the dark,
a couple disappointing turns I took this year.

and gave a name to everything about my life that I still fear.

I bought a round trip ticket to a temporary smile showing teeth.
Spring can be a bummer when the chill still creeps back in the night,
but I wake up every morning and shake my sleepy sense of defeat.

I started smoking Spirits after a year spent cleaning out my lungs.
I couldn’t take another second without something just to take off the edge.
But it’s better than the last time when I was busy filling up my nose.
I just need five minutes alone to talk myself off the ledge.

Just give me one more drag and I’ll get busy quitting again.
